Is reflexology suitable during pregnancy?

Yes, reflexology is safe during the different stages of pregnancy. It can help reduce morning sickness, provide some relief from lower back and pelvic pain, and reduce swelling at the later stages of pregnancy. 

Is it safe for cancer paitents?

Yes, reflexology is used in many treatment centres throughout the UK. There is some evidence that reflexology can help with you with;

  • relax and cope with stress and anxiety

  • Relieve pain 

  • Improve mood increase feeling of wellbeing. 

Reflexology works alongside medical care and treatment plans. It is not a substitute for medication or cure for cancer.

Can reflexology diagnose illness?

No, a reflexologist is not a medical professional and can not diagnose ailments or illnesses. Reflexology is not a cure for a clients health condition. Reflexology is a holistic treatment that aims to treat the client physically, emotionally and spiritually. Treatments can however help to ease the severity of ones symptoms. A consultation will be conducted before your first session to assess your needs to provide the best possible care.

What if I dont like my feet being touch?

No problem! Elaine offers facial reflexology and hand reflexology options if you would prefer not to receive foot reflexology. 

What are the side effects?

Reflexology is a non invasive therapy which means it does not involve pain. Some areas of the feet might be more tender or feel tingling which indicate an imbalance in this area of the body. Side effects are generally positive. After a session the client might feel a deep sense of relation and and less stressed. Some clients experience a release of emotions. This is completely normal. I always encourage clients to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration which can bring on headaches. A bit like a regular body massage.

On the rare occasion the body might go into a healing crisis. This could involve frequent urination and running to the toilet. This is the body's way of rebalancing the natural energy.
